While technologies that can inject liquid manure are fully developed and widely available on the market, technologies that can inject poultry litter are still very much in the research and development phase. In regions of the Chesapeake Bay where chicken farms are concentrated, injecting poultry litter would go a long way towards meeting both farm management and water quality goals.

With the goal of eventually developing poultry litter injection technologies suitable for widespread adoption, Sustainable Chesapeake is partnering with Land Grant University researchers, USDA Agricultural Research Service scientist and the private sector to demonstrate the agronomic potential of poultry litter injection and explore technology design and performance.
